Where
to Eat – Candidasa While in Candidasa, don't miss a chance to
eat at the Water Garden Café' , featuring a refined and
varied menu of Thai and local specialties, on a well decorated
deck near the ponds (Rp40 – 60, 000; T 0363 – 41 540). At the
western entrance to the village, Lotus Seaview offers good seafood
and Bali nese dishes for Rp55 – 70,000,with a great sea view (
T 0363 – 41 257 ) . In the centre of Candidasa, the glossy, upmarket
Kedai Warungs offers Bali nese and International dishes for Rp40
– 80, 000.

The
restaurant is built as an open bale with a thatched a roof on
spacious grounds. Don't miss the del icious seafood soup ( T 0363
– 42 019; 42 020). Next door is the relaxed Toke Café'
, serving local and international food for Rp45 – 60, 000, with
a small lesehan (traditional seating on the floor) in the corner
facing the bar. A small court with a pretty fountain is set in
the back for occasional dance performances ( T 0363 – 41 991).
Along the main road, the large Kubu restaurant, below the hotel
of the same name, offers delicious grilled fish for Rp25 – 45,
000 ( T 0363 – 41 532 ; 41 256). At the eastern end of Candidasa
is the good value Warung Astawa , well – decorated in the good
value bamboo and a thatched roof. Balinese dances are performed
every Saturday ( T 0363 – 41 363) What to Do at Sea
The
Amuk Bay (or Labuanamuk ), stretching from Padangbai to Candidasa,
has good diving sites where you may spot mantas, molas, sharks,
and other pelagics. Padang bai has two main dive sites, called
Blue Lagoon and Citizen Point (near Tanjung Sari), which are perfect
for beginners and snorkellers. The tiny island off Candidasa.
Gili Mimpang , Tepekong, and Biaha can have strong currents and
are for more experienced divers. Gili Mimpang is also good for
snorkeling. Sea trips and snorkeling can be arranged with local
fishermen on the beach or from your hotel (about Rp50, 000 per
hour).
