What
to Do – Kuta and Seminyak
For
aromatherapy (massage with essential oils)., scrub treatments
, and energising reflexology (healing foot massage), try Escape
on Jl. Seminyak, opposite café Moka. They also sell massage
oils and spa products. A newer outlet, Jari Menari (“dancing fingers”),
also on Jl. Seminyak, offers professional massages performed by
a amazingly well – trained team of masseurs. Their offerings include
a unique four – hand relaxation session performed by two practitioners
working in harmony. Shopping for Fun and Souvenirs Kuta, Legian,
and Seminyak are a paradise for shoppers. Cheap souvenirs can
be found in the street markets, where most of the profits
go to local vendors.

Clothes are on offer all around, with a strong bias toward surf
gear and hippie wear. Great silver jewellery is another specialty
of Bali . You can find it in posh shops or in little displays
opened under your eyes at any minute by any of the countless street
vendors selling rings, sunglasses and fake watches. Handicrafts,
home decor, and furniture are especially good in the shops of
Seminyak and Kerobokan. If you stay long enough, you can even
get items made precisely to your design and measurements.
You
can even get your order of a table and chairs shipped to your
home. Be aware that most of the wood furniture is made of teak
which comes from the over-harvested, illegally logged teak
forests of Java and Vietnam . As much as possible, purchase items
made of fibre, coconut, and bamboo, which are beautiful and made
of readily available materials that don't deplete natural forests.
Avoid purchasing items made of tortoise or seashells.
For
organic products, check out the Sunrise Organic Market in Kerobokan.
You can get fresh fruits and vegetables, but also great gift ideas
– from organic coffee to herbal teas, sea salts, and even body
care products, including neem – oil products from pet shampoo
to healthy massa ge oils. Ask for the schedule of Yoga classes.
