What
to Do – Kuta and Seminyak
Party
Gods In the Island of the Gods, even shops and nightclubs have
their share of rituals and offerings. Before every raunchy night
o f techno music, the dance floor of the Double Six is carefully
adorned with little palm-leaf cups filled with flowers, cakes,
and rice, and marinated with arak liquor (albeit much less than
late night patrons). For the Balinese, spirits and gods are alive
everywhere, and offerings are always needed to keep the balance
between good and bad. Local party animals usually dine around
Jl. Laksmana, which packs a mind-blowing choice of good – value
restaurants, from fish specialties to Italian, Greek, and Japanese
- nothing typically Balinese here. If you plan to go out, dine
late, as most bars don't fill up before 12pm or Iam.
Dinner
is usually followed by a drink in Kudeta, or at the sophisticated
Hu'u Bar ( Jl. Petitenget), above a green garden and pool. JI.
Abimanyu (known as JI. Dyana Pura) has a more relaxed scene with
a lot of live music joints. You can start with a good dinner at
JP's restaurant, which features local bands playing world music
from 9pm to 12am . A bit further on, the Santa Fe keeps the spirit
of the old Seminyak alive, with a dense crowd shaking at the sound
of loud, enthusiastic local rock bands. Around l am, the street
starts to get really packed, as Jl.Dhyana Pura has turned into
an endless row of bars opened to the road, including the gay-friendly
Q-Bar and Kudos.

A
typical night out may end up at the beach at the end of JI. Double
Six, where party goer - s can choose between the trendy Deja Vu
or the most popular night club around, the famous Double Six,
which stars to come alive around 3am. Besides its colourful crowd
of all sorts in various states of intoxication, the attraction
of Double Six is its large terrace opening to a vast pool crowned
by a bungee-jumping tower, occasionally used by a daring (or very
drunk) party animal.
