Healing
Herbs under your Feet
Watch
your step as you walk around Ubud, for you may accidentally step
on a timeless cure for hepatitis or diabetes - unless you are
guided by Wayan Lilir and her husband Made Westi. Active
environmentalists from a family of traditional healers, they feel
they are in charge of a vanishing treasure: the local science
of herbal remedies.
As
they write: "We love to share our knowledge with those who
want to learn about plant healing. Many people are missing so
much, looking at landscapes from their car window...We offer a
healthy walking experience where visitors will learn to spot invaluable
herbs creeping in front of the beautiful vistas. We teach people
how to identify each species with their eyes, nose, and tongue,
before learning how to use each plant to remain healthy, in harmony
with Mother nature.”
