Amed Beach

About 1km further into jemeluk, Pondok Kebun Wayan and its Amed Cafer' -are among the oldest establishments in the area. They have a wide choice of rooms offering different levels of comfort, packed against each other on a small garden along the road. It is not the most charming hotel in Amed, but is a convenient place to stay with many services, and a good choice of tours and guided treks to discover the region.

Relax at Santai Hotel

Santai is Indonesian for playing it cool, and this great place, although a bit pricey, is perfect for relaxation. The spacious bamboo and thatch-roofed cottages can sleep two to four persons; this is a good place for families with kids. A pool behind the small beach lets you lounge with an ocean view amidst a profusion of bougainvillea and frangipani. When tired of relaxing in the sun, ask to see dance shows per - formed by children from Jemeluk supported by Santai.

Santai participates in waste recycling; the beach is cleaned everyday by the hotel staff. The owners help fund the costs of schooling for local kids.

Get artsy at prema Liong

This unique establishment is perched high on a hill with a lush garden, offering an exquisite view of the ocean. Designed by a young local architect, the spacious bamboo and grass bugalows are cooled by the sea breeze. The extra bed in the mezzanine enables sleeping for four persons if necessary.

The veranda of your bungalow or the hotel's bale are perfect places to enjoy a healing massage, after a healthy walk to the Uyang Bangle springs. Prema Liong strives to support the local arts, offering a large selection of dancing, cooking, painting, or wood and stone carving classes, and has organized a foundation to spon­sor children education.
